The women created by Sandro Botticelli live in environments in which many women would dream to reside. They are goddesses enthroned in laurel. They are nymphs dancing in orange groves perfumed by ripe fruit and the same tree’s fresh blossoms. Botticelli’s women are warriors, protectors, seducers, lovers and saints. They are soft, new and supple. They are erudite, elegant and mature. In her life each woman may come in contact with aspects within herself which are realized in dreamlike linearity in the paintings of this beloved Quattrocento master. Some women may see or express these aspects too rarely. I would say that when we connect with art and nature we are more likely to connect also with Alessandro di Mariano di Vanni Filipepi’s (Sandro Botticelli) vision for the feminine paradigm and perhaps even more to our deeply rooted power.
