I must say, I loved the new production design.  I felt especially tickled by the “Venus and Cupid” reproduction I saw behind Christine and Carlotta during the Il Muto scene.  Now, I have no idea which painting the reproduction intended to reference, but this François Boucher artwork comes close to what I saw in the musical.
