In this audiobook edition, author Erik Larson chronicles the lives of architects in 1890s era Chicago. On one side, a mighty firm plans, creates, and organizes a World’s Fair. On the other, a man has a building raised for a series of shops, plus a secret place to dump the bodies of the people he murders. While he profiles other colorful characters, Larson mainly told the story of Burnham and his collaborating architects, and the other of serial killer H.H. Holmes.
