Rambling about the Ohio Jesus Sculpture

Image via Photobucket and voleye.

Hearing about the “Touchdown Jesus” statue struck by lightning and burned down, I did not know how to write about it.  Everyone else already commented on the lightning burning down the work.  Me, I wanted to do something different.

Aesthetically, I should not like this spectacle of a statue, but I do.  I think TV Tropes could call this statue, “So bad it’s good,” However, People should remember that houses of Christian worship were never known for their subtlety.  The Vatican, the Gothic cathedrals, et cetera.

However, it did look like Jesus tried to crawl out and nobody will help him.  Another thing, I also want to take a picture and Photoshop people running away from Him like Godzilla.

Finally, I know everyone jokes about God or Zeus causing the lightning, but I think Bernard of Clairvaux had a hand in this.  The way he railed against renderings of the divine, I could imagine striking down that spectacle of a sculpture.
