Malcolm McLaren, Rock ‘n’ Roll Swindler

Malcolm McLaren dies age 64,  the cause was cancer.

My thoughts?  I always saw him as  a divisive character, especially with the way he managed bands and promoted artists.  For more about him, I recommend the book, Please Kill Me.  While this book mostly talks about the New York Punk scene, the British Punk scene also makes an appearance.  Regarding his age, I thought he was much older, because my parents are ten years younger than him.

Now that I think about it, he was the André Breton of his time.  He promoted challenging ideologies while at the same time, he would become loathed by his own followers.  André Breton’s legacy was similar.  The books, Revolution of the Mind and Dali writes about Breton’s controlling side which ostracized a lot of people.
