Art History in “White House Down”

Go ahead, make fun of my taste in movies, I don’t mind.
Forgive me, but I couldn’t help but revel in Roland Emmerich’s glorious, cheesy fun.  While watching, some art caught my eye.
Seriously, I had a ball catching all the portraits of past presidents found in the film.  Plus, seeing a painting depicting the War of 1812 piqued my curiosity over who made it.  I looked up the painter (Tom Freeman) and he creates okay paintings.  While his execution of action scenes verge on the static, I think Freeman’s skill shines brightest when depicting water and the ships moving through the vast blue sea.

Lastly, the film had a tour guide who I bet received an education in art history.
