Last Saturday, I went to a conference put together by the Charlotte Arts Journalism Alliance to learn about the inner workings of this world and to see what I can do to continue polishing my writing. Some of the advice they gave, I already knew. I did learn some valuable lessons on pitch etiquette and how to talk to editors if I ever decide to work as an official independent journalist.
I also thought of future ideas I would like to turn into books. In my Kindle, I have a substantial amount of public domain art history books written by art historians I have never heard of in my art history classes. People beyond Giorgio Vasari, Heinrich Wolfflin, Johann Wincklemann, Roger Fry, and John Ruskin. If they do not have biographies dedicated to their lives, I would like to write them myself and explore their interests, their contributions, and the cultures they lived in. Lastly, I want to examine what kind of influence they had, whether it remained permanent or temporary.
