Talking Art with Carrie Mae Weems by bell hooks
I first came about this back in grad school as required reading. A talk between two women that I admire greatly. When I read this interview, I felt awestruck by the intimacy emanating off the pages. Furthermore, I felt that I had intruded upon a conversation that I had no business reading. That came from the two venting their views and frustrations towards the art world that they had to deal with as Black women. However, I am glad that I did, so now I share it with you.
