Having looked at it myself, I am a little unsure about the painting, but hey, if the x-rays says so.

The lucky owner? A former pilot named Martin who lives near Niagara Falls.

The story came to light earlier this week when the Sunday Times in London published an article about a new book that claims this Pieta — a painting of the Virgin Mary holding the body of Jesus — is indeed the work of the Italian master.

“It’s definitely by Michelangelo, and I was lucky to find documents that prove it,” said Antonio Forcellino, a Michelangelo biographer and art historian, who wrote the new Italian book, “La Pieta Perduta” translated “The Lost Pieta.” ”
