Since my internship has a lot to do with art history, I am going to write about working at the Hickory Museum of Art on this blog.
Today, I met with the director of the Hickory Museum of Art and I received my first assignments. Before that, we talked a bit about Willem de Kooning and his unhappy time at Black Mountain College in Asheville, North Carolina. It felt wonderful to talk to someone who knew a lot about art history.
I have to admit, when I took part in a meeting about an upcoming exhibit and they gave me duties to work on, I did feel incredibly nervous and overwhelmed. The realization hit me, letting me know that I have real responsibilities. When I left for home, I put together some labels and lists for a show and emailed them to the museum. Now, I hope I provided something useful.
